Theme Two Case Studies.. a question

Hi all,



We have introduced theme two by purely using the River Nile.



This came down to 6 case studies.



The River Nile as a whole: landforms etc

The use of Freshwater across Africa

The Blue Nile Falls

The Nile Delta

The Aswan Dam

The Sudan Floods

The Ethiopian Drought 

 

Our next dilemma is: should we concentrate on coasts for an extended amount of time? We are thinking to about insisting on using the delta as one of our coastal…

Case Studies

I know this has been discussed before but I really am at a loose end. Case Studies.I have a really hit and miss attitiude to this. Kids hate em and I am rubbish at teaching em.Does anyone have a list/ resources/ help they are prepared to share on this subject for all 3 Units.My kids are middle ability to low ability and cant seen to retain the masses of stuff I throw at them. Even after 2 years on this spec I still cant get my head around this Please help, I am on my ownSee More

We have only done one - Boscastle - Pupils have done this lower down the school so we have kept it on the list of case studies but not introduced another, they have enough already.

We are in Preston so i have dicussed the changes to the services and pupils had to answer a case study question based on changes in an MEDC and Urban area using Preston.  For a rural area we used the villages surrounding us for an MEDC but…

Lisa- see my other reply- but surely any regeneration case study in an MEDC will tick this box for urban (as long as it covers shopping/transport as well as housing). We have done the Iceland case study before- it's quite good.

Our kids can use their fieldwork each year (last year it was Birmingham), we also look at Glasgow as our regeneration case study and then we do Gulargumbone in Australia as rural service change (and rural-urban migration).

Thanks Lisa- i emailed Andy Owen and got the reply that unless it states in the spec that you have to do one MEDC and 1 LEDC then 1 case study is enough- so for flooding 1 is enough. He said we should be trying to cut down the number we do and…

I think we're doing Snowdonia and Coventry, so that our kids are aware of both areas (we're based in Coventry and visit Snowdonia at the end of year 10..) Then I think we're concentrating on Bangalore..
